Daily devotion – throw the net
Jhn 21:6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.
I often wonder why we make things so difficult for ourselves. When we try to run our own lives and make our own decisions without trusting or seeking God’s wisdom.
The disciples, professional fishermen, have been toiling, working all night and had no success. Sometimes for us, victory or success is just meters away from our grasp.
A millionaire when asked how to succeed replied, “ Rise early, work late, and strike oil.”
How does one strike oil, how does one succeed?
You do what Jesus says. Listen to what He is telling you through His Word and in your heart. Perhaps He has been dealing with you, speaking to you, but you have thought His direction doesn’t compute with the difficulties you face or the task you have undertaken.
The disciples could have said, “We have been fishing all night. We are the experts. What does throwing the net on the other side of the boat have to do with anything?” But when they did what Jesus said, they were immediately on the right side!
So too, you might be real close to success in the best sense of the word. All you have to do is to decide to obey what God has told you to do. It is not mystical. It’s not difficult. It’s simply obedience to the Lord God Almighty.
Follow His command and blessing will come. Remember He only wants to bless you in the first place!
