Daily devotion – first impression

Pastor Keith   -

Act 20:18 And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you.”

All of us at some time have started at a new class, a new school, a new college or a new job, a new sporting team. You’re the new kid on the block and people want to know where you are at and try to size you up as soon as they can. It can be tough sometimes!

But I do not know where we get this idea that we should “fit in” and or “relate”, because if people don’t know where we stand, there will be temptations coming our direction that would not have been there had we taken a stand the first day!

So from day one, carry your Bible with your on your first day, place it on your desk or open it up in the lunch room and people are not going to invite you to be part of something that Christ would NOT Himself be part of.

They will know from the beginning that you are a follower of the Lord!

Paul said, “From the day I arrived in your city, you knew what kind of man I was!”

Parents help your kids understand this. When they graduate from primary school to junior high school. Tell them they have a new start, “Be serious about your faith and make that first impression strong.”

Those of us who have walked with Christ for some time now, each new day and each new interaction we have with someone we don’t know, is an opportunity from the Lord to shine the light of the gospel, and to be salt that has not lost its power!
