Coming Events –– Welcome to CCSH today. Should you need prayer or would like to know how to receive Christ as your Lord and Saviour, directly after the service, you can speak to one of the pastors who will be available at the front of the sanctuary to pray with you. School holidays are upon us and therefore both the Calvary Women’s Bible study and CCSH Youth Group will be in recess. Lord willing, Ps Keith will commence the Gospel of John next Sunday and we will conclude the Book of Zechariah this Wednesday, so we encourage you to start reading through this glorious gospel in preparation. Don’t miss our evening service tonight commencing at 6:00pm. You are invited to join with others in our preservice prayer meeting in classroom #1. Your prayers will make a difference. It’s 91 days til Christmas and approximately 460 days until we are in Israel once again! Enjoy a fresh cup of coffee after the service for just $3 from our coffee shop – thank you to those who serve us each Sunday with great coffee!
From the Pastor’s Desk – I struggle with the speed of moral decay that our nation and communities are falling under. The youth of our nation are being caught up in this whirlpool of depravity and parents are just allowing the flood of sin to wash over all that once that was regarded as true and just. It is at this moment in time that the Church of Jesus Christ too is battling to hold back the tsunami of hedonism and plain evil from flooding the Church. How quickly this has happened before our eyes. In Ephesians 6 today Paul places a great emphasis on our knowledge of God’s Word, our adherence to it and our trusting in it. But sadly today, there is an ongoing famine of Bible study! It was common not too few years back that all attending Church would carry with them their own personal Bible. Yes, we are in an electronic world where many utilise Bibles on their phones. The distraction to swipe to check your email, or a web site instead of staying locked on the Bible would be a great temptation. We even provide here at CCSH Bibles under the seats for use of people attending. But these were never placed there to take the place of your own sword but only for those who did not have a Bible to access. In Churches past, the only book under the seat in front of you was the hymnal! I want to encourage you to consider not digital, analogue even, but the paper copy of God’s Word. There is just something special about your own Bible and studying from it in Church and at home or work. To see a Bible with a worn-out cover and pages covered in notes and highlights paints a picture of use. Of reading, of noting down places where God revealed His heart to you in some very personal way. I loved carrying my sword with me at work, or in my car, going to the shop, the doctors waiting room, the airport or anywhere I could with a special moment of time have God speak to me once again! But if electronic is your way, utilise every capacity of the Bible programs so that you will have a superhighway leading to an increased knowledge and understanding of God’s way far beyond where you are at today. Be in the Word!
Calvary Chapel Nasinu – Fiji – Ps Keith spoke to Ps Charles in Fiji this week. The church in Nasinu has had over 500 viewers on its online service. Ps Charles is giving a leadership program at the local school. They are looking to plan another Calvary Chapel near Suva international airport soon. Please keep all these matters in prayer along with a volleyball outreach and preaching session on one of the islands nearby.
Grace Giving – We have a container at the left rear of the chapel for your grace-giving, or you can give electronically via the following information. CCSH Account number: 2490144 & BSB: 306089. Our greatest encouragement for giving is that it pleases the Lord. Let us worship Him as we give and remember that God was unsparing in His giving Pro 3:9 Honor the LORD with your possessions, And with the firstfruits of all your increase; So your barns will be filled with plenty, And your vats will overflow with new wine. Matthew 6:21 – For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
