Daily devotion – Monday’s meditation

Pastor Keith   -

Psalm 1: 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers. 2 But they delight in the law of the LORD, meditating on it day and night.

It’s Monday, one day after the weekends Church services, and it’s time to go over all that God has spoken to me about as I sat under and in His Word. I go over the notes that I took down, the things that I highlighted. The words that convicted me and made me realise where I needed to surrender more to God, to be more obedient. I circle all of the promises that God reiterated to me, those that I need to trust in His strength and grace to oversee in my life.

It’s a delight that God has spoken so much to me through John’s Gospel thus far. The wonder of His love and patience that we studied in with Nicodemus and then the woman at the well. To see myself in both of these people in some ways.

How wondrously Jesus detailed how I am to worship Him and then from Sunday night, how convicted I was as to whether others could see God’s grace evident in my life as Barnabas saw of those in Antioch.

Yes, Monday is a day of overflow. A time to wade through all that God has spoken after our time together with Him here at CCSH.

How about you? Sadly, some people as soon as they leave Church, they switch straight back in the gearing and ways of the world without a hitch. Their Bible placed back down once again at home unopened ready to be carried again to Church for next Sunday.

The author of Psalm 1 tells us that he is not influenced by unrighteous people of the world but his meditation on the Word of God is that which guides, feeds and encourages him.

This week don’t waste all that God has spoken to you about personally. His desire is to bring blessing to you as you meditate on His Word.

In fact the writer of Psalm 1 tells us this is where his delight in life lays and he thinks on God’s Word day and night!
