Daily devotion – discouragement
Psa 27:14 “Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!”
Being discouraged is not something rare as we seek to live our lives in this fallen world. What is the root of discouragement when it hits us? Discouragement comes to us like a lot of other things, through unbelief!
You might be discouraged because you think you are not making ends meet and you are not convinced God can supply your needs. Or you might be frustrated in your workplace, and you don’t believe God can help in you being content. Maybe it’s that you are frustrated with health problems, and you never consider that your life is actually in God’s hands.
Discouragement can hover over our lives like a rain cloud, cutting out the sunshine and any warmth in our lives. When we are really discouraged, it seems to eclipse Christ in our lives in a way that troubles us even more.
Discouragement is the devil’s way to thwart the work of God in our lives. To blind our eyes to the mercy and goodness of God with us only ever seeing unfavourable circumstances.
But there is a way to eliminate discouragement in our lives. But it cannot be done in our own strength or genius. It is to turn in faith to God, believing that He loves us and is in complete control of our future.
The Bible says, “Wait on the Lord…” and in doing so…, “He shall strengthen your heart!”
