Daily devotion – power

Pastor Keith   -

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

The power of prayer is something that I continue to be amazed at within the Church. Think of it, the Creator of the Universe is the One we pray to and ask for His help in our times of need.

There is no greater power or no greater being that one can seek!

Paul tells us what God can do when we seek Him in prayer – Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

As some of you will be aware, my precious wife Helen underwent serious surgery this week. Surgery that required a specialist in their field and some possible scenarios and outcomes that were quite daunting to say the least.

However, both Helen and I did not journey through this time alone. Many people from Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour prayed for Helen at this time and we sensed a wave of support that was quite surreal. It was as if there was something encompassing us and also surging along with us. It was the presence and power of prayer to the Creator of the Universe Almighty God.

I love the passage in Daniel where he has been praying for some time and eventually an angel of the Lord appeared to him… Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words – Dan 10:12

This is one of the great blessings of being a Christian – we can pray. We can seek help from the greatest power of the universe. He actually formed it! The Lord God of heaven and earth listens to our prayers, and He promises to answer them.

What else do we need to know to be a people of prayer?

If you are not a praying person, become one, and begin to experience the true power of God released into your life!
