A BLESSED NEW YEAR – 2023!
Coming Events –– . A blessed New Year 2023 to you all this morning. We look forward to 2023, Lord willing to have our Church extensions begin and be completed. Also, this time next year, January 2024, we will be packing our bags in preparation for travelling to the Holy Land – our Israel tour! A sign-up sheet for those who are intending to travel on the pilgrimage will be at the information desk from next Sunday. Our Wednesday prayer night and Bible study will recommence on January 11. Our Sunday evening services will also recommence on January 8. All our old prayer cards will be updated for 2023. If you have a prayer request you desire to see continue, please write out a new request for 2023. If you weren’t part of the servant team in 2022 at CCSH, we encourage you to change that for 2023. Let us see a swelling of available and passionate saints seeking the privilege to serve God here at CCSH. This morning to begin our New Year we will be gathering around the Lord’s table to celebrate holy communion as the body of Christ.
From the Pastor’s Desk Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the LORD.” So, what is there for CCSH in 2023? Great question. We could brainstorm around a whiteboard. We could carry out market research into our community and study its demographics. We could look at other Churches and see what’s successful and what’s not. But each of these would be fleshy in both their venture and outcome. Pastor Chuck Smith, would always remind us as pastors…, “find out what the Holy Spirit is doing and join Him.” People used to ask Pastor Chuck what the secret was, the ‘special’ program, that led to a Church of 25 people in 1965 exploding to over 30,000 in the Jesus movement explosion. Chuck’s reply was simple, “It was a divine act of God!” No programs, no special research, just a move of God on young people’s hearts who hungered after God. Each week, Chuck would sit on a stool and simply teach the Word of God simply. Book by book, chapter by chapter, verse by verse, and God moved! 2023 for CCSH? We will pray, we will seek God, we will preach God’s Word, the full counsel of God, we will fellowship in His love. We will love one another. We will share the Gospel at every opportunity and God will bring the increase. “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things! Romans 10:15
Helen’s Heart Be transformed…that you may prove that…perfect will of God – Psalm 12:2 God has a plan for every life and if we live in constant fellowship with Him, He will lead us to fulfill this plan. We first need to trust Christ for salvation and receive Him as our Lord and Saviour. Then our adventure begins! Life and life more abundantly. God will show you His will as you read His Word and fellowship. Whatever guidance you need commit it to the Lord and He will guide you.
