Daily devotion – unstoppable prayer

Pastor Keith   -

We had a sweet and powerful time of prayer last night here at CCSH. Each Wednesday when we gather it is such a refreshing to the soul and to the growth of the Church spiritually.

Isaiah the prophet wrote, “Before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.” – Isaiah 65:24

John Knox spent a great deal of time in prayer in his short but powerful life. John Wesley prayed long and often, and the Methodist movement was formed.

Martin Luther prayed with passion and zeal and the great Reformation took off across Europe.

Each of these spiritual giants we look to considered prayer the only weapon to fight against the almost overwhelming forces of their spiritual opposition. They also knew the urgency of the Gospel message to be proclaimed to a lost and dying world. Prayer was the power to spread this blessed good news to a world living in the dark of the night.

Today, we as Christ’s Church need to ‘load up’ our battle plan with the power of prayer. Like Paul, these great men knew that “the weapons or our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds.” – 2 Corinthians 10:4

Is our situation any different today?

God desires that we be concerned and burdened for the lost world we find ourselves living in. If we pray this kind of prayer, the peace of God can come to the lives of so many lost and broken souls.

This is why prayer is so difficult often for us– because our enemy Satan knows that when we take prayer seriously…..he loses power and he loses souls under his dominion.

So, he makes us tired, tells us it won’t matter if we don’t pray, and that it really won’t achieve anything. That we can get on without it.

But when you do pray, God’s power and His will are released and the light overwhelms the dark completely!

Join with us next Wednesday and join the battle for victory!
