Daily devotion – Marriage and Heaven

Pastor Keith   -

Mat 22:30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

Tomorrow Helen and I celebrate 47 years of marriage. In that time, God has been so gracious and patient, especially with me learning to be a husband firstly and also a father. Looking back over these years, I can see God’s providence in bringing us together as husband and wife.
God knew precisely the loving and patient wife I would need who would be such a support to me as we served the Lord together.

The Bible tells us when we get to Heaven, there will be no such thing as marriage, and often, people are saddened when they read this.

But we must realize that everything in Heaven will be better than what we have here on earth. That means Helen and my relationship will be even more incredible than what it is now! I don’t know how, but the Word of God assures us of such! Those of you who plan on being married one day, Lord willing, allow God to choose your spouse! The first great decision each person makes is to choose to have Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Following in second is the choice of who you will marry.

Finally, remember God invented marriage, not the world. Therefore He alone knows how best it works successfully!
Marriage can be Heaven on earth…and I thank God each day for allowing me the privilege of choosing Helen to be my wife.

Pro 18:22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.
