Daily devotion – narrow is the way

Jhn 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Sometimes Christians are accused of being narrow minded by us saying and believing Jesus is the only way to know God, the only way to Heaven.

We do not have to defend God, the very first verse of the Bible simply states – Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. God does not have to prove Himself!

When people argue that Christians are narrow minded, their argument is with Jesus Christ – not with Christians!

Was Jesus narrow minded then? Yes in one sense, for in the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, Mat 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
Mat 7:14 “Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

If Jesus was right about this, then He was appropriately narrow minded. He was being like parents who are narrow enough to insist that their children walk on the footpath and not on the road, or a doctor who limits his prescriptions to medicine that will actually help people rather than poison them, or the airline pilot who restricts his landing options to that narrow path of life called a runway, rather than trying to put the airplane down on a beach or freeway.

We really need narrow approaches as they are based on truth and point us in the direction that is best for us.

Jesus gave us every reason to believe He was telling the truth, and that He loves us enough to lead us toward forgiveness, life and an eternity with Him.

Lastly, it makes eternal life so very simple to find!

Jhn 10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
Jhn 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
