Daily devotion – two sides
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed – Romans 12:2
Each of us are in one of two camps. We are either a conformer or a transformer.
For those who are conforming, their minds are focused on how you can be cool and fit in to the ways of the world!
Are you a thermometer, adjusting to the temperature of the culture that fascinates you? Or are you a thermostat, changing the climate of the culture around you?
Many Christians think that they as believers, and the Church, need to try to relate to the world by analysing what the world is doing, changing what Church does to fit in, in order to make the Church relevant!
Don’t be a thermometer, be a thermostat. Jesus sat and ate with tax collectors and sinners, but it was He who brought a shift to those He was sharing and teaching. Don’t be a conformer because the Church was never meant to be like the world.
1Jo 2:15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
Being like the world is not ‘cool’, it’s dangerous to your eternal salvation.
Remember, you as a follower of Jesus Christ are a stranger, a pilgrim like Abraham to this world, we are travelling through this world be we are not part of this world. Our citizenship is in Heaven which is our destination and our home.
