Daily devotion – enjoy His presence

Pastor Keith   -

Psalm 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want….

People continue to reject the Lord in their lives. So instead, they look to evolution, or pantheism, re-incarnation or humanism to fill that which they will not allow God to fill.

So our world becomes a battlefield, a cemetery of human wreckage, where there is no forgiveness, no hope or love of God. This is the sad world we find ourselves living in now and how it must make God weep as He sees His creation, blind, filled with guilt and living in darkness.

Driving back from a time of witnessing this week, as I listened to my music playlist on Spotify, my heart and mind sought the Lord in prayer. Communicating with Him, seeking Him, spending time in His presence with a heart open to His voice and direction for my life, I again realised the blessing God has given us when He made us in His image.

We are not like the animals or any other created thing on this planet. God has made us with the capacity to know Him, to have a soul, a spirit that craves His presence. We are not satisfied with simply eating drinking and merriment. We are born to know God. To have a relationship whereby we can communicate with He who is the Creator of all things – almighty God!

This is such a blessing when we do seek to know Him through His Son Jesus Christ. When we repent of our sins and He fills us with His Holy Spirit, this is something only we have the privilege of receiving.

When David wrote Psalm 23, it is evident that He was recalling the many times he as a shepherd boy had watched over his father’s flocks. David could see and understand that His Creator was the Shepherd of his life and that He was going to guide and protect him all the days of his living.

This week, live for the blessing that God created you for. Spend time seeking God, talk to Him, open your heart to Him and then enjoy His guiding and blessing you.

When we get to Heaven, this will be the existence we will all enjoy. Heaven will not be boring because when I am in God’s presence, when He is ministering to me, there is certainly nothing boring about this wonderful relationship He designed for us to enjoy!

Pray without ceasing…….
