Pastors Desk Jer 7:16 Therefore
pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither
make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee. God had instructed Jeremiah not to
pray for the nation of Judah, so he didn’t. Instead, he prayed for himself as a
representative of the nation. Once again he identified with the pain of his
people. As Australians how much do we identify with our nation, our people. Leaders
in the Bible like Moses, Daniel and as well as Jeremiah all interceded for
their people even the people had sinned before God. This is why God called and
chose such blessed leaders. They each reflected the heart of God who desires to
bless and constantly seeks our repentance over and over. Our nation needs you
to pray for it! It is degenerating down the path to a righteous tragic
judgment. But, whilst we still have breath in our lungs, we as Christians living
in this amazing nation are called by God to be like Moses, Daniel and Jeremiah.
It’s the same for our unsaved loved ones – God would have us weep like Jeremiah
and intercede for each and every one of them. The time is short. Pray and be
used by God for those He loves! You can make a difference.
Helen’s Heart
We studied raising God’s family on
Ladies Tuesday morning Bible study – and how to avoid a dysfunctional family.
Looking at the Bible we see many examples of what would be classed
dysfunctional today – e.g. Joseph (a great leader in the Bible) had a childhood
that involved animosity between his father’s 2 wives – who were sisters;
favouritism from his father which caused jealousy from his brothers which led
to him being sold into slavery. And Sara who was so desperate to have a child
she ‘pushed’ for her maidservant to have relations with her husband Abram and
the resulting conception ended in contempt and disrespect from the maid. We
learn from these examples what not to do – Prov
14:1 says, The wise woman builds her house. May you look to God for your
direction and guidance on how to build (in some cases repair) your family this
week.
