Daily devotion – what is ahead of us!

Pastor Keith   -

1 Cor 15: 42 It is the same way with the resurrection of the dead. Our earthly bodies are planted in the ground when we die, but they will be raised to live forever. 43 Our bodies are buried in brokenness, but they will be raised in glory. They are buried in weakness, but they will be raised in strength. 44 They are buried as natural human bodies, but they will be raised as spiritual bodies. For just as there are natural bodies, there are also spiritual bodies.

Many Sunday’s after the service’s have concluded, Helen and I and the other pastors here at CCSH, are met by people seeking prayer for all types of illness’s and pain. We remind the brother’s and sisters in Christ,  before we anoint them with oil and pray for God’s healing on them, of the wonderful Scriptures of hope found written by James – 5: 14 Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.

Now in our older years, there are times when we will have a sick grandchild with us and it always is such a sad thing to see them unwell.

But God’s wonderful Word which is filled with many promises of hope, reminds us that this period of sick bodies, of break downs in our health, are just for a short season.

The Bible tells us that when we are taken home to be with the Lord, it will be the finality of such things for our lives and our loved one’s forever!

We will have new bodies that will never age, never get or feel unwell. We will have perpetual health!

How wonderful to know this after having to deal with sickness our whole time here and now.

When we receive Christ as our Lord and Saviour, besides the forgiveness of our sins and being given a new heart, we each are given a new life. This body, that contains this born-again heart,  will eventually pass away and return to the earth from where it came. But then we will move into a brand new body built for Heaven.

Christianity is the most glorious of all wonders and it will take eternity for us to discover how good and loving our wonderful God is.

There is so much ahead of us, let us live with this blessed hope today!
