Daily devotion – The Son of God and the Holy Spirit working in us.
2 Thessalonians 1:11 So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. 12 Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ.
Salvation by faith is a wonderful gift but God does not want us to come to Christ by faith and then lead a life of defeat, discouragement, and dissension.
Raher He wants to “fulfill every desire for goodness and the work of faith with power; in order that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you.”
So He gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit.
We need both the work of the Son of God FOR us and the work of the Holy Spirit IN us. It is in this way God has answered our two greatest needs; the need for forgiveness and the need for goodness.
Someone put it like this, “I need Jesus Christ for my eternal life, and the Holy Spirit of God for my internal life.”
If you have believed in Jesus Christ, now there is a power available to you than can change your life, even in the intimate areas of your marriage, your family relationships, and every other relationship.
But also in this way God offers His power that can change a powerless tired Church into a vital, growing body, power that can see God glorified in the time we now live.
It is with this background, the work of the Son of God and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives that we commence two new studies in two new books of the New Testament – commencing this Wednesday the book of Galatians, and Sunday morning’s the book of Colossians.
Galatians tells us of the wonderful work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and Colossians tells us of the wonder and total glory of the work of Jesus Christ for us.
I encourage you to join us Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings as we launch into these masterful teachings from God’s Word.
Our aim here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour is to try and make the sheep of this fellowship the best fed sheep from the Word of God.
