Daily devotion – the love of His Word
Psalm 119: 11 I have hidden your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.
Each Sunday morning, evening and Wednesday nights as well, we have the privilege of either teaching or sitting under the exhorting of the Word of God. Since the day I first heard the Bible taught, back in 1977, I have enjoyed every time God’s Word being opened.
A love for God’s Word is not something that I studied or learnt; it has been there since day one of my walk with God. I wish I could pass on this same passion I have to others but it must be something that each disciple of Christ is to have personally in their lives.
The ‘magic’ words, “Let us open our Bibles to”, always excite me and have me on the edge of my seat with the wonder that I am about to experience, hearing God’s Word preached.
As the Word is taught, I am always reminded that God’s Word is literally that – it is God speaking to me. It is God, the Creator of the universe, taking the time, pleasure and passion to share His heart and love with me.
Psa 42:1 As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God.
Helen and I pray each Monday evening for the saints of Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour to love to hear, read and obey God’s Word.
May you this week, as you sit under God’s Word at one of our services, or when you open your Bible for your daily readings, sense the wonder and joy of the privilege of God’s Word for you!
