Daily devotion – open doors
Colossians 4:3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains,
Each day we wake up go to work, school or whatever normal duties we have and sometimes miss a door God has opened for us to walk through.
That was pretty much my modus operandi for many years until I began to give each day in prayer to God before I set about my business. In fact, I wound the clock back 24 hours, and Helen and I would pray the night before, for God to guide the next day for each of us. To lead us to whom we were to speak to, share His love with and pray for. This became a regular habit and because of this, we are very sensitive now to the many doors that God opens up to us each day and moment.
Praying and living this way also heightens our senses so that as we go about our everyday affairs, we are acutely aware of God’s leading. We happen to meet someone, and discussion opens up during which time we are in a state of prayer seeking God’s wisdom and will for us bumping into this person or situation. “Lord, do you want me to pray for them now about this what they are sharing with us? Have You brought them across our path today so that I may share a Scripture with them for their lives?
Paul was always on the alert. He was always looking for a purpose for his day. A door that God would open for him whereby he could glorify Him and be used by Him.
I pray for God to open doors for you that you may be able to share the mystery of Jesus Christ, to be a vessel for Him to speak and reach someone who is lost. Alone and living in darkness.
Today, when you go about your business, be ready, God is always opening doors for you!
