Daily devotion – medicine

Pastor Keith   -

Job 31:4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

Life’s journey often presents us with challenging decisions and uncertain paths. The weight of these situations can lead to anxiety and stress. In the midst of such moments, it is comforting to know that our Heavenly Father sees and knows every detail of our lives. Job’s question serves as a reminder that God is intimately aware of our ways and counts every step we take.

As we navigate through life’s complexities, we can find solace in the assurance that God’s watchful eye is upon us. He is not distant or unaware; He sees our circumstances, concerns, and struggles. Even when we are uncertain about the future, we can trust that God knows the way we should take.

Each day we are often faced with situations that can easily cause us to be anxious. Which way do we go, what decision do I make now. The realities of such times can often cause us to be physically nauseous or have our blood pressure rise. It’s at such time we need some good medicine – a good dose of God’s holy Scriptures.

The word medicine is actually found in the Bible. Pro 17:22 A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.
Eze 47:12 And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.

Zephaniah 3:7 reminds us of news that is easy to follow, and has life-changing results: The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love..

The presence, power and promises of our Lord bring newfound hope and help to the most difficult of situations. In the midst of his troubles, Job acknowledges: Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?

Does not everything that happens in your life concern God? Job thought so!

God is present. He is in control. He has saving power. He offers a peace that we can find nowhere else.

The medicine of hope that He gives us strengthens and renews us to endure, to continue on in the face of opposition.

Confidently today, you can rest in His loving faithfulness as He miraculously quiets our hearts with His love.

Acknowledge His Presence: Begin each day by acknowledging God’s presence in your life. Remember that He is with you, watching over your ways.
Cast Your Cares: Cast your anxieties and worries upon God. Surrender your concerns to Him in prayer, knowing that He cares for you.
Seek His Wisdom: When faced with decisions, seek God’s wisdom through prayer and Scripture. Trust that He will guide your steps.
Meditate on His Promises: Reflect on the promises of God found in His Word. Let His promises reassure you of His love, care, and faithfulness.
Rest in His Sovereignty: Embrace the truth that God is sovereign over all circumstances. Trust that He is working for your good, even in challenging times.
Practice Gratitude: Cultivate a heart of gratitude for the ways God has led and guided you in the past. Recall His faithfulness.
Lean on His Strength: When you feel weak or overwhelmed, rely on God’s strength. His grace is sufficient for you.
Find Peace in His Love: Remind yourself of God’s deep and unwavering love for you. His love brings peace and comfort.

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your constant presence in my life. You see my ways and count my steps, and I am reassured by Your watchful care. In moments of uncertainty, help me to trust Your wisdom and guidance. I cast my anxieties upon You, knowing that You are in control. May Your promises and love bring me peace and confidence, allowing me to rest in Your sovereignty. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
