Daily devotion – testing modern teachers
2Ti 1:14 Through the power of the Holy Spirit who lives within us, carefully guard the precious truth that has been entrusted to you.
Not sure if you ever as a child played with or searched for fools’ gold. We used to go looking for it in the blue gravel that was often used around road works or building sites.
Sure enough, it looks just like gold when you find it, but it’s worth absolutely nothing.
Paul has told us that the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is a great treasure that we have been given, to be stewards of and to guard as well.
In these Last days it is especially important that we get our original treasure from the Word of God, and not from the ideas and philosophies of men. We do not test modern teachers by their popularity, education, or skill.
We test them by the Word of God, and particularly the doctrines of grace as given by Paul.
It is not we who examine Paul to see if he is right; it is Paul who examines us!
