Daily devotion – Our support for Israel

Pastor Keith   -

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

I walked into the Fremantle football club one day and one of the players and a physio were having a deep discussion. As I entered the room they said to me, “You’ll know, why is there so much animosity to the Jewish people?”

I replied, “You know I am a Christian and therefore believe in a literal devil and evil existing in our world. The hatred that is seen against Israel is a spiritual hatred powered by Satan himself to bring destruction to the people of God – the Jewish nation. This hatred has been going on for centuries. It’s a spiritual warfare!”

Yesterday and today have been the most heartbreaking I have experienced for some considerable time. As I read of the atrocities carried out by terrorists (Hamas) – people filled with and controlled by evil itself – have taken to murdering, raping, torturing men, women and children in Israel. With 300 Israelis murdered, 1,600 wounded and more than 50 plus Israelis taken hostage.

The people of Israel have for centuries faced threat after threat of annihilation. What makes one even more angry about what is happening in Israel at the moment is the treatment of women and children by the Hamas terrorists and the ‘enjoyment’ they display over such evil actions!

Besides feeling heartbroken and angry, what can we do? We can by prayer call on the Omnipotent God to display His power and bring rescue to the captured, bring down the evil forces that are driving the terrorist groups and bring them to their knees!

Let each of us by prayer, launch the greatest counterattack the people of Israel have ever know over its enemies. We have to pray. We must pray. This is why, we the Church are still here!

We have plans as you are aware of being in Jerusalem in January 2024, Lord willing. We do not know whether this will occur, but I am hoping we still can visit the Holy Land. If God allows and God enables us to do so, this trip will be the sweetest of all by showing the people of Abraham, the “apple of God’s eye” they are not alone.

But until then, Helen and I will be in Israel every day and every night by prayer at this time!

Gen 12:3 I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt.
