Daily devotion – the message and hope for today’s generation.
Luke 21:34 “But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. 35 For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
I have over the years heard many people say how wonderful it would be to have lived at the time of the early Church – to witness the miraculous events recorded in the book of Acts as written by Dr Luke.
When I was a new believer, I used to wish I had been born when Christ walked the earth with His disciples – how amazing that must have been.
But I think we living now in 2023, have overlooked the fact that we are living at the time of the Last Days – the last hour! Peter spoke of the Last Days in his last letter.
John told us in 1 John that we are living in the last hour. That was more than 2,000 years ago! We are we in God’s prophetic timeline of a world wide event that will shake the world and we will be in the middle of it!
We are living in the time of Christ’s return for His Church, the moving of the pieces by God of Daniel’s 70th week.
You and I need to take our eyes off the past and look to today! We are living at a time where we are seeing things all setting up for when the trump of God will sound and every living believer shall be caught up together with those Christians who have died before us, in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air…1 Thess 4:17
The message of the soon coming of Christ is the message for us today because it’s going to happen in our time. When don’t know when exactly, the day nor the hour. But as we see the world events unveiling before our eyes each day rapidly changing, it surely must be close.
Living in the early Church timeline yes would be neat, walking with Jesus amazing, but God has us in His prophetic clock ready to rise into the Heavenlies. I am happy with where we are now. How amazing will it be when it actually happens – soon?
It is this message of wonderous hope that captured Helen and my hearts back in 1977 and the flame has never dimmed!
The coming of Christ for His Church is next – and we are ready!
