Daily devotion – purpose

Pastor Keith   -

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

There are times in all our lives that we are covered with a cloud of depression. They blow over us just the rain clouds that arise from the ocean and land on our shores. At those times, we have a choice. To choose to simply sit under the shadows and greyness of the clouds or to fall to our knees and pray so that we may see the Son! Jesus Christ!

Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

When we seek the Light of God, Jesus Christ, in His precious Word, we are filled and refreshed once again with the truth that God has a purpose and a plan for us. A plan that He designed before there ever was an earth or a sky, before the foundations of the world were laid. We have another choose before us then. To choose to believe and obey God’s Word and His promises for our individual lives, or to continue sadly in our own dark way.

Rev 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

The last book of the Bible, one of my favourites in His Word, reveals to me that when I choose to obey and follow my Lord, that I have actually found the reason for my existence and the purpose for my life after all. It’s to live in a relationship with Almighty God and to worship and serve Him.

That’s a life that is well lived and a life that is filled with the joy of the Lord. By the way, when I do this, no matter when clouds may blow once again over my life, I know that the light from the Son of God will soon fill my face once again with the radiance of His glory!
