Daily devotion – the false teaching of the 5 Fold Ministry movement
2Ti 1:13 Hold fast the pattern of sound words which you have heard from me, in faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
There is a false teaching movement known as the 5-Fold ministry Group that is drawing people from Churches to their ‘select’ group. It is always fascinating that such new false teaching movements always fill their seats with people already attending Churches, rarely if ever do they have ‘new converts’ as such.
I recommend you to follow the link to a great article by Bob De Waay that pulls apart this 5 Fold groups ‘new revelations’.rejoiceforevermore.wordpress.com/2010/08/26/is-the-five-fold-ministry-doctrine-biblical/
Mr De Waay states the following at the conclusion of his article.
“There are no authoritative apostles after the death of the Biblical ones. The Biblical ones continue to serve foundationally through their inspired teachings. Just as Christ continues to be the cornerstone, and Head of the church, though not bodily present, His apostles and prophets continue to be Christ’s authoritative teachers. Evangelists, pastors and teachers who are true to Christ have no message but that which has been once for all delivered to the saints. God has given all of these to the church to assure that His purposes for her shall come to pass. However, the completion and perfection must await the return of Christ. Those who are claiming new revelations, new power, new authority, and are claiming apostolic status are false. They are leading us farther from the unity of the faith, not closer to it.”
As you read these words you will recall what Paul wrote to Timothy in his second letter which we have been studying – Sunday mornings.
2 Timothy 2: 1 Timothy, my dear son, be strong through the grace that God gives you in Christ Jesus. 2 You have heard me teach things that have been confirmed by many reliable witnesses. Now teach these truths to other trustworthy people who will be able to pass them on to others.
Deviants from the teaching that Paul gave, he warned us to have nothing to do with!
In Galatians chapter 1 Paul was even more strenuous in his speaking of such false teachers – Gal 1:8 Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.
Gal 1:9 I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed.
Paul will tell us in chapter 4 of 2 Timothy that we are to be faithful to “Preach the Word” 2 Tim 4:2…
I again implore you to be careful of the enemy who seeks to draw you away from the truth of the gospel to the devil’s lies.
We live in dangerous times if you are not founded on the foundations of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
