Daily devotion – Held by His love.

Pastor Keith   -

The sun is setting on the world as we know it. We watch and wait, listening and looking up for the Trump of God to call us into the air to forever be with our Lord. Storm clouds grow larger and darker around the world as wars continue, and many are suffering because of them.

Our society has become selfish and violent, our schools are struggling with children who come from homes where Christ is unknown. Loneliness has become an epidemic and lives of the innocent and unborn are murdered due to personal inconvenience.

How much this must break the heart of our loving God! What do we do? What can we do?

An old saying which has great merit in times of great disaster – “First things first!”

Let us look to the first commandment of those blessed Ten God gave to Moses.

Deu 11:13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Deu 11:22
For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;

There are moments in our lives that unless we stop and spend time in prayer with the Lord, alone with Him, we will miss the power of His loving arms to help us in our frailties and concerns.

Do you know that God enjoys you taking time to be with Him, to show your love to Him, and He to you?

This is part of the reason the first commandment is so important for us to adhere to. Its not written simply as a rule, it’s given to us for our blessing. To keep us safe, to keep us in God’s sovereign will and to enable us to walk a life that is the beautiful one that God has planned for us.

As I love God first and foremost, the impact and reaction on the rest of my life is put into balance. Everything in His amazing order.

Yes, I will stay face trials, and because I live in a fallen world, will still face illness. But all those things God takes care of as I have Him first in my life.

As I love Him first, my walk with Him becomes one of confidence, not fear. I know that God is guiding and watching over every step of my life. This brings me great peace and comfort.

It makes me walk closer to Him, Moses wrote – to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him.

I can cleave to God when I am fearful, or I can hold Him when I am unsteady, but lastly, I can cleave to Him because He loves me!
