This week at Calvary – A blessed and merry Christmas to you all today. We pray that Christ’s Birth will bring you hope, grace, and comfort this Christmas Season. We invite you to join us again tonight for our special Christmas Eve service so we can enter this Christmas with God’s blessing upon our families here at CCSH. We have a Christmas Eve children’s program for our smallest saints to celebrate Christ’s birth together. Sunday school-Parents, as we look to 2024, if you have children attending Sunday School, seriously consider being part of the servant team that ministers to the little ones. Your kids will be blessed to have you in class with them! In addition, Sunday school age participation is limited to 11 years of age. We pray that many years earlier, your child will have already graduated into the sanctuary to sit with you under the teaching of the Word of God. See Helen Carmody with your child’s name to graduate from Sunday school and be officially welcomed into the adult sanctuary. It’s not too late to spear an invite to family or friends to join with you tonight here at CCSH. Also be sure to text or email that family can join us via our YouTube channel if overseas or living away.

From the Pastors Desk Christmas seems to take so long to get here and then it arrives before we know it. Between the O.T and the N.T there is a period of some 400 years that Heaven was silent to the people of Israel. According to Jesus, John the Baptist is the Elijah who was to come. When we see John the Baptist on the scene in the early pages of the gospel accounts, we know that the heavens are once again opened, and God is now speaking to the people. It is phrased that way because it is believed there was no Scripture written between Malachi and Matthew. It ends with a promise of Elijah and then 400 years later that Elijah comes. There are times in our own lives that we think that Heaven is brass to our prayers and God is silent to us. But as we learned from our study in Habakkuk, God is always at work in our lives, and He is constantly listening to our prayers. Christmas is a reminder to us all that God loves us and He exhausted Heaven to reveal Himself to us by giving His Son Jesus as His gift to us so that we could be saved from our sins. Christ’s birth in Bethlehem is God’s answer to your prayers, to your fears, and to your loneliness. He came to be with us and never leave us. Isa 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. Christmas 2023, God is telling you once again He is with you, and you are not on your own in this difficult world. Celebrate this Christmas knowing the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, is with you and watching over you! “Joy to the world the Lord is come…”

Helen’s Heart For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace…Isaiah 9:6 Amidst a world that does not recognise the Christ of Christmas – we as Christians need to celebrate the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” John 1:29. The Creator who became your Saviour – Jesus is the reason for the season. Your and my spirit rejoices!
