Daily devotion – From battlefield to battlefield!
Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
When Sunday services are over, be it the morning or evening, often the enemy launches another attack on us who have been proclaiming God’s Word or leading the people in worship. Satan never rests from his relentless attack and we know this will continue until Jesus takes us home.
Our Lord was under continuous attack from the enemy of our souls. When Jesus was driven into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit for 40 days and 40 nights of fasting and prayer prior to the beginning of His public ministry, Satan was waiting in the wilderness for Him.
Three times as you are aware, Satan launched bitter and heinous attacks on our Lord. Each time Jesus quoted the Word of God to the enemies’ temptations. When Satan left him he said he would be back!
I wish I could tell you that you will be able to be at ease with your walk with God, your marriage and raising your family. But that would not be the truth of the matter.
1Pe 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
In this world Jesus said we would face tribulation. We are all in a war that moves from battlefield to battlefield. This is why Paul tells us to put the armour of God on and never take it off! The moment you drop your guard, take ease or consider yourself out of the war, Satan will hurl his fiery darts at you, seeking to have you doubt the character and goodness of God as well as the veracity of God’s Word. It’s the same battle plan of attack as he threw at Eve and Adam in the Garden of Eden.
So, what are we to do given we cannot drop our guard?
We are to remember the following as we fight from conflict to conflict:
1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1Jo 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
2Ti 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
The Word of God remember is our weapon and it is invincible against the attacks of the enemy.
Stay alert, be on guard, keep your armour on, stay in prayer, and the Lord will watch over you and keep you in His peace!
Be ready, not surprised, nor complacent, but confident in Christ who will not allow anything to separate you from His love and grace.
Romans 8: 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
