Daily devotion – who are you?
Psalm 1: Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.
What defines you?
In either one word or a short sentence, how would you define yourself to someone if you were asked? As we go about our daily lives, we are revealing to all those we come in contact with, family, friends and complete strangers, who we are as a person. What defines us!
We think of people in the Bible and we see great clarity and definition in who or what they are.
Cain was a liar and a murder – his brother Abel was a prophet and a true worshipper of God.
Enoch is defined as a man who walked with God.
Noah. A preacher or righteousness and builder of the arc.
Abraham, the father of faith.
David, a man after God’s own heart.
But what about you? We often pray to God for Him to give us an opportunity to preach the Gospel, to witness to the lost and to share the love of Jesus with others.
God opens doors for us to do this each and every day in multiple ways. People will ask you what your opinion is on a matter. Or there is a discussion about religion, the Middle East war or some other matter and you have an opportunity to speak into this conversation.
You see someone after the weekend or a period of time and they ask you, “What have you been up to?”
Each one of these simple everyday occasions God makes available to you to define yourself. To reveal who you are and what is important to you and what you believe.
As a follower of Jesus Christ, we can share at the right moment in such times how we define ourselves. Who we are!
We are sinners, saved by the grace of God who now follow our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
How wonderful it is that I can say my faith in Jesus Christ defines who I am and that this is the most important thing in my life!
Clear, concise, to the point, powerful and poignant.
This week define who you are when God opens the door and be like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham and David.
This is who you are!
Act 4:13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
