Daily devotion – miracles today!
I read today that 98% of the 7 billion, billion, billion, atoms in the human body are replaced every year. We have three new babies due to be born over the coming months here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour. They each have a story to tell us of God’s miraculous wonder and power!
People are often asking me does God still carry out miracles today.
Each time a new life is formed, to me is one of the greatest miracles that God could ever do. For from nothing, He creates life, a heart begins to beat, and a new little person, is formed with a fingerprint that no other human has and a personality all their own. For nine months a brand-new life lives within their mother’s womb completely nourished and cared for automatically each day.
Eventually this new little boy or girl is born and begins to live their life as God has planned for them.
In every step of the creation of this new life is the loving grace and power of the Creator God – the only one who can create life itself.
Psalm 139 is surely one of the most glorious and educative passages of Scripture found in God’s Holy Word. For it describes in detail the Lord’s personal communion and care in the creation of each new little life.
13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
17 How precious are your thoughts about me O God.
They cannot be numbered!
18 I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
you are still with me!
Does God still perform miracles today? Absolutely He does and His power, love and wonder are demonstrated clearly for each of us to see, hold and look on in wonder – the birth of a child!
Surely the miracle of new life is evidence enough and more to acknowledge the wonder and glory of the omnipotent God – He who made each of us in His image!
