Daily devotion – Sunday best!
Mark 2: 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”
Our first parents tried to cover their sins with garments they made – Gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings – blood had to be shed!
But God would NOT accept them with this foolish attempt to hide their sins. Instead, He clothes them with skins – Gen 3:21 Also for Adam and his wife the LORD God made tunics of skin, and clothed them.
Jesus did not come to do a patchwork job on our lives; He came to make us whole. We have been raised from the dead. – Eph 2:1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins.
Like Lazarus, we must take off the old garments of death and put on the garments of new life – John 11:44
And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Loose him, and let him go.”
I like new clothes especially the one’s made by the Creator of the Universe.
It’s not just our Sunday best – the clothes God gives us are eternal!
