Daily devotion – heartache!

Pastor Keith   -

It is with great heartache that today’s devotion is one of absolute grief and tragedy. The picture below is of the Bibas family who were taken captive on October 7 2023 during the most evil attack on Israel by Hamas. Today their bodies are being returned back to Israel since being take alive on that date.

I have been asked over the years by some people regarding the existence of the Devil. One only has to look at this picture and the reality of what has happened to this innocent family to know the answer to such questions. The Scriptures tell us that Satan and wickedness are both a reality. Seven books in the Old Testament teach of Satan’s existence. Every writer of the New Testament affirms his reality and activity.

Christ’s teaching also assumes and affirms Satan’s existence and activity. In twenty-five of the twenty-nine passages in the Gospels which speak of Satan, our Lord is speaking.

In some of those passages there can be no question of Christ’s accommodating His teaching to the crowd’s supposed ignorance of faulty concepts of Satan due to Persian dualism.

Why do I raise this matter today? Firstly for you to pray for the Bibas family of which now only the husband/father is alive. To pray for God to comfort him and the people of Israel at this most heart rendering time.

Secondly to wake any who are ignorant of Satan and his desire to bring tragedy to all who are created in the image of God.

The Apostle Paul warns us – 2Co 2:11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

Satan never rests in his endless pursuit to harm us and those we love. But I sadly see so many parents, especially fathers, lax in raising their children in godly parenting.

Eph 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Satan’s aim is to have you commit evil, to tempt you, to be immoral and to have you deny God.

But when we as Christians take our walk with God seriously as to our parenting, in spite of what Satan throws at us, we can live victoriously through faith In Christ who Himself has become the victor over Satan – 1 John 5: 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Every believe has victory simply because he or she is a believer.

Today will you live as Christ desires you to? And let us pray especially for the Bibas family.
