Daily devotion – The power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
đź“– Romans 1:16
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The Roman Empire at the time of Paul’s writing boasted of its power. Greece prided itself on philosophy, but Rome found its strength in military might. Yet, Paul boldly declared that the Gospel had a power far greater—the power to change lives.
Paul had already seen the Gospel transform people in the wicked cities of Ephesus and Corinth, and he was confident that Rome would be no different. Why? Because he had personally experienced the life-changing power of Christ.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ does what no human power can do—it delivers sinners from the penalty and power of sin. Paul describes it as salvation, which means deliverance.
And this salvation is available to everyone who believes—because all of humanity needs to be saved. God does not require people to behave in order to be saved; He calls them simply to believe.
Salvation in Christ is the one gift that is suitable for all people, regardless of race, age, or culture.
Paul, who once called himself a debtor to share the Gospel, now proclaims he is not ashamed of it. He had confidence in the Gospel because it was the message of Christ, not man. How could anyone be ashamed of such good news—a message from God, that centered on His Son, Jesus Christ?
Today, may you walk in the power of the Gospel, and may you never be ashamed—to believe it, to live it, and to share it!
🙌 Be bold in Christ!
