Daily devotion – Turning the tide and revealing the Truth
The Wrath of God Revealed
Romans 1:18-21
“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.”
Human history began with man knowing God—Adam and Eve walked with Him in the Garden of Eden.
Contrary to what modern thought suggests, mankind did not begin as ignorant idolaters who gradually evolved into monotheists. It was the opposite! Man knew God but chose to turn from Him.
God has made Himself known through His creation—the wisdom behind the intricate design of the universe and the power that brought it into existence. The apostle Paul states in Romans 1:20 that God’s eternal power and divine nature are clearly seen so that no one has an excuse for unbelief. As Psalm 19:1 declares:
“The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament shows His handiwork.”
But instead of glorifying God, man suppressed the truth. Today, we see this happening everywhere—politicians spinning lies, media distorting reality, and people rejecting God’s truth so they can live as they please. Romans 1:21-22 tells us that refusing truth leads to futile thinking and darkened hearts.
Rejecting God doesn’t just result in lies—it leads to outright perversion of the truth (Romans 1:25), until humanity is reduced to animalistic thinking and behavior. We see this today in abortion, euthanasia, and moral decay.
Australia, like many nations, has followed this downward path. But there is hope!
The future of our nation does not have to be one of judgment and destruction. God’s people can stand in the gap. The fervent, effectual prayer of Christ’s Church can turn the tide.
Will you be one of those who prays? Will you stand for truth in a world of deception?
Now is the time.
