Daily devotion – Do you k now Him
Isa 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
The Bible records the cries, the word Jesus uttered whilst He hung on the Cross at Calvary. Seven sayings recorded that display the humanity of our Lord Jesus.
He was wounded so that we would be healed. His sorrows were great so that our sorrows might be taken away. The prophet Isaiah described Jesus: : “His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness.” – Isaiah 52:14
He could not be recognised as being the person He was, such was His brutal beating. He was on the receiving end, even though innocent, of false accusations and violence. His enemies urged the Romans to get rid of Him. And once Jesus hung before them on the Cross they felt vindicated when they saw the nails piercing His flesh, smelled the blood and heard His agony!
Many people say it is only the weak that follow Christ. The horrors of the mass killing of Christians in present day Syria dispel that loudly now before our eyes.
We do not serve a set of rules or a system of faith. Not one of the disciples would have died for such. No, Christianity is bound in a relationship with the Son of God Jesus Christ, the same Jesus who hung on that Cross and three days later rose from the dead victorious.
We have no holy shrines we have instead a holy God who put on the body of a man in order for us to see God in full display, to know His character, but most importantly, to be able to rescue us from dying in our sins.
As we head toward Easter I pray that you might delve deeper into the Word of God, seek Him in prayer most seriously, so that you may know who it is that loves you and died a horrific death to set you free from Satan and Sin. It was Someone not something!
As you spend time with Him you will find that you will change and those around you too will see that you are a person who knows Christ personally revealing His grace and love more and more each day.
