Daily devotion – He knows us so well!

He Knows Our Frame
“For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”
—Psalm 103:14

As Jesus sat and ate with His small band of disciples in the final weeks and days before His death, I imagine Him looking around at each one.

Peter—devoted, but so often speaking too soon.
James and John—fiery, passionate brothers, with John still so young.
Thomas—a deep thinker, yet willing to die for his Lord.
And Judas—how tragic would be his final days.

Each disciple had their own unique personality, strengths, and weaknesses. Yet Jesus did not cast any of them aside. He remained faithful to them all, even to Judas, addressing him as “friend” in the very moment of betrayal:
“But Jesus said to him, ‘Friend, why have you come?’ Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and took Him.” (Matthew 26:50)

Jesus knows us better than we know ourselves. He sees our weaknesses, our doubts, and even our moments of denial. Yet, He remains our intercessor, praying for us even now at the right hand of the Father.

Before Peter’s great failure, Jesus reassured him:
“Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” (Luke 22:31-32)

God is never surprised by our stumbling. Yet, as our merciful Saviour, He watches over us, restores us, and ensures that we will make it to the end.

This week, walk in the assurance of His grace, knowing that His mercies are new every morning. He will see us through until we stand before Him in glory.
