Daily devotion – Peace in the Middle East?

Pastor Keith   -

The cease fire is over and Israel has launched new attacks on Hamas because they have continually refused to free the remaining hostages.

As this new battle front has re-ignited, the world has come out strong as usual against Israel. Even our own Australian members of Parliament, David Pocock especially, has made public his attack on Israel’s military move. Yet, he never mentions the hostages, nor the October 7 massacre. It seems the speck he is calling out against Israel’s eye is no where as big as the plank in his own!

Mat 7:3 “And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
Mat 7:4 “Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?
Mat 7:5 “Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

The situation in Gaza is complex and so too will be the future of the West Bank. Israel can ill afford another October 7 attack. At the moment Israel is seeking to create a buffer zone area which is a short term fix. However, talks of annexation also of Gaza have also begun. That is to seize the land and assume rule over it. (Its theirs anyhow – the area known as Judea)

The Middle East conflict has been a thorn in the side of world leaders for generations with each attempting to bring a peace agreement but none have succeeded.

Last night we finished the two part series on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, the white, red, black and pale horses each bring with them death and destruction.

But the first horse rider, the white horse, he in his first appearance, is seen to bring peace to this troubled situation between the Jewish people and its many enemies.

Dan 9:27
The ruler will make a treaty with the people for a period of one set of seven, but after half this time, he will put an end to the sacrifices and offerings. And as a climax to all his terrible deeds,[fn] he will set up a sacrilegious object that causes desecration, until the fate decreed for this defiler is finally poured out on him.

The end of this conflict and the ultimate solution is yet future, but Daniel tells us that this first horseman, the new world leader, will bring a cessation of the conflict in Israel, with a signing of a 7 year peace treaty. But half way through this, after the new Temple has been rebuilt and the sacrifices have begun again, this ‘peace maker’ will bring a sudden halt to all worship and sacrifices unto God.

Then this man, empowered by Satan himself, will demand to be worshipped as god.

We are drawing ever closer to these days as we view the current situation unveiling in Israel.

Where do you stand in all this? How are you living now before God?

Foe every man woman and child will be brought to a place of decision.

Heb 9:27 And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment,

Today is the day to commit your life completely to the Lord.
