Daily devotion – How can we know that God loves us?

To Him Who Loved Us and Washed Us from Our Sins in His Own Blood…

Revelation 1:5 – To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood…

To Him who loved us…

Ephesians 2:1-5 powerfully reminds us of the depth of our lostness and the miracle of God’s love:

“And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air… But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).”

And in 1 John we read:

“In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” – 1 John 4:10
“We love Him because He first loved us.” – 1 John 4:19

Jesus rescued us from our sins—and He has freed us from their power.
He did this not with gold or silver, but with His own precious blood. His sacrifice, His pain, His suffering were all expressions of His love.

The Apostle John, who walked with Jesus and leaned on His chest, cannot help but burst into praise in Revelation. Why? Because he knew—like we can—that Jesus loves us with an unbreakable love.

Paul writes in Romans 8:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution…? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us… [Nothing] shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” – Romans 8:35–39

How did Jesus express His love for you?

How can we know—truly know—that God loves us?

We know because Jesus washed us from all our sins—by His blood.
His life laid down, His atonement made, His Cross endured… all for us.

At Calvary, the proof of God’s love was nailed in place once and for all.

So today, pause and praise Him—To Him who loved us and washed us…
