Devotional: When we walk in His will, we are blessed!
The Blessing of Walking in God’s Will Together
When the Church comes together and fulfils the commands of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, we are truly blessed to be part of God’s work.
This past Wednesday evening at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour, the Church gathered to study God’s Word. Afterwards, we broke into groups to pray—just as the early Church did at its beginning.
“And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” — Acts 2:42
This is the life of a believer and disciple of Jesus Christ.
There is something truly powerful and beautiful that happens when we, as followers of Christ, begin walking in the will of God. Does that mean all our problems vanish? No. But when we walk the path that God has laid out for us, we receive a double blessing: the joy of obedience and the refreshing power of His Holy Spirit.
“See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another in the fear of God.” — Ephesians 5:15–21
As we gathered in groups and prayed—not only for God’s will to be done in the Church but also for one another—we experienced something deeply unifying. We were reminded that we are one body in Christ, each of us uniquely gifted by God to bless the whole.
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” — 1 Corinthians 12:7
And finally, we were deeply aware that we were not alone. God’s Word assures us that Jesus Himself is present when we gather in His name.
“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” — Matthew 18:20
And truly, we had gathered in His name!
I pray today that you walk in the will of the Lord—and that you too will experience the intimacy, unity, and joy that come when we abide in His will, for His glory.
