Spirit-Filled Living Starts with a Different Walk

Pastor Israel Carmody   -

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise.” – Ephesians 5:15 (ESV)

Many today assume that a Spirit-filled life is something loud, spectacular, and unusual – maybe even bizarre. But Paul gives us a different picture. A Spirit-filled life starts not in the spotlight, but in the quiet decisions of daily living: how we walk.

Walking is a metaphor for life’s journey, a steady, continuous motion. Paul urges believers to walk “circumspectly” – carefully, wisely, intentionally. That’s a far cry from the drift and distraction we often settle into. Why? Because the days are evil. Time is precious. And if you’re filled with the Spirit, you’ll feel the urgency of Eternity pressing into today.

The Spirit-filled person doesn’t waste time – they redeem it. They live with eyes open to opportunity: the opportunity to share Jesus, to build up the church, to live with purpose.

What can you do today that is Spirit-empowered, eternity-minded, and intentionally different?

Don’t underestimate small steps of obedience. Choosing not to mindlessly scroll, but rather to pray. Choosing not to rage in traffic, but to give thanks. Choosing not to keep the gospel to yourself, but to share it with a friend.

When the Spirit fills you, He changes how you walk. Carefully. Purposefully. Powerfully.

Prayer:
Holy Spirit, help me walk wisely today. Fill me, lead me, and open my eyes to the moments You want me to use for Your glory.
