What’s on this week?
Calvary Women – this Tuesday at 9:30 am here at the chapel, women’s Bible study, prayer and fellowship. Creche is provided.
We call upon you as followers of Christ to please pray for our nation Australia. This week our parliament sided with 27 other nations against Israel. They continue to accuse Israel of crimes when all Israel is doing is fighting for their right to live in peace since the October 7, 2023 atrocities committed by the terrorist group Hamas. As of 22 June 2025, 50 hostages are still being held in captivity in Gaza. Of these, 49 were abducted on October 7 and one hostage (Hadar Goldin) has been held in Gaza since 2014. Deceased hostages being held by Hamas: 28 deceased hostages are being held by Hamas in Gaza. Why doesn’t our PM and Foreign Minister demand their release instead of demanding Israel to cease fire? This is a spiritual conflict! We have a vital part to play in God’s plan – be part of the army of the Lord! There are no such things as prayer-less or passive Christians in the Lord’s army. We all can make a difference when we call upon the Lord in prayer – together! Join us as we gather Sundays before the morning service and especially Wednesday evenings here at the chapel, and pray for our nation Australia. God will do the rest!
Continue to save for our planned Israel trip January 2027. Lord willing, we will be able to visit once again the Holy Land and walk in the footsteps of Jesus. If you put away that few dollars each week, when the time comes, you will be ready to be part of this amazing pilgrimage.
Are you serving here at Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour? We take Paul words literally when he says, Ephesians 4:16 He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. Join with so many others here at Calvary and bring a blessing to the rest of the body of Christ here by serving in some capacity – see the pastors for further information. Our pastors and elders, make themselves available after each Sunday service for prayer at the front of the sanctuary.
Helen’s Heart
For as he thinks within himself, so is he…Proverbs 23:7
Many things can depress us, disappointment, illness, even the weather. All our encounters in life have a mixture of good and bad so it is not the circumstances in which we are placed but the manner in which we meet them, that makes for our comfort. We can forget that God is not only a comfort in our lives, but a joy. We are meant to enjoy Him and His pleasures forever – Psalm 16:11 – and think on our many blessings – we are chosen, adopted, redeemed, we have an inheritance and we are sealed with His Holy Spirit. Bless the Lord!
Grace Giving
2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in our surrounding communities. Account name – Calvary Chapel Church Secret Harbour Incorporated – Account – 10891970 – BSB – 066-516.
From the Pastor’s Pen
The Blame Game and the Gospel .We live in a society that has rejected personal responsibility. Instead of owning our sins and shortfalls, we shift blame. It’s always someone else’s fault—never our own. This mindset echoes the modern mantra: “It’s not my fault.” I recently came across an article claiming: “Pornographic addiction is not your fault—it’s just a neurological response to repeated dopamine stimulation.” But God’s Word tells us otherwise. The Bible is clear: sin is not a medical condition or merely a chemical reaction—it’s rebellion against God. Scripture does not excuse or rename sin. It confronts it. Galatians 5:19 – Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness… Ephesians 5:3 – But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints. Colossians 3:5 – Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 – For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. We, the Church of Jesus Christ, must be very careful not to dress up sin and call it something else. The heart of the problem is always the problem of the heart. This is why a man-centred, socially acceptable gospel does not work. It may sound compassionate, but it cannot save. People remain in bondage because it lacks the power of true transformation. The true Gospel is God-centered. It declares that we are sinners in need of rescuing. Only the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ can free us from our depraved lifestyles. Only the blood of Jesus Christ can wash away sin. This is why Jesus began His earthly ministry with a call not to cope with sin, but to repent from it: Matthew 4:17 – From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Let us not soften what God has made clear. Let us hold fast to the Gospel that saves, transforms, and frees.
