Daily devotion – He is Risen!
He Is Risen!
This morning, as I spent time with the Lord, I was struck once again by the wonder and significance of Christ’s Resurrection from the dead!
“And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty.” – 1 Corinthians 15:14
How often does Satan attack our thoughts and try to bring doubt to the message of the Bible and the Gospel of Jesus Christ? He constantly seeks to cause us to question the wonder of God’s gift of grace and to shake us from the very foundation of our faith. Yet the Apostle Paul states plainly: without the truth of Christ’s resurrection, we have nothing.
But because Jesus did rise from the grave on the third day—just as He said He would—we can rest confidently knowing that everything He said is trustworthy and true.
Even our world’s calendar and dating system bear witness to His impact. The Christian calendar, which has been adopted globally, uses the birth of Jesus Christ as its epoch. Years before His birth are marked as “Before Christ” (BC) or “Before the Common Era” (BCE), and years after as “Anno Domini” (AD – In the year of our Lord) or “Common Era” (CE). Whether the world acknowledges it or not, Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection shape all of human history.
Throughout His earthly ministry, people repeatedly asked Jesus for signs to prove who He was. Despite the thousands He fed and healed, they still demanded more.
But Jesus gave one ultimate sign—the Resurrection. His words silence every argument and destroy every doubt:
“Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered, saying, ‘Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.’
But He answered and said to them, ‘An evil and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign will be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.
For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.’”
— Matthew 12:38–40
Jesus Christ did rise from the dead, three days after His crucifixion.
Jesus is going to call His Church to meet Him in the air— (1 Thessalonians 4:13–18).
Jesus is coming back to earth again to rule and reign for 1,000 years.
Every promise of God is sure. Every word in Scripture will be fulfilled.
So today—August 2025—the wonder of Christ’s resurrection still fills our hearts with joy, awe, and deep thankfulness.
