Daily devotion – God’s Word never grows old.

Pastor Keith   -

So often you will hear people say that the Bible is outdated and needs to change to be up with the times. It’s a common saying that lacks any credibility or sense!

The Bible, especially in the book of Romans, speaks about the immorality of today’s accepted lifestyles which are confronted clearly and succinctly. The book of Romans is not outdated by the centuries or times because it deals with a fundamental matter, which underlies the life and times of all centuries. Truth has no age nor does it diminish with time or fashions. The fundamental matter this book and the Bible as whole deals with is man’s need of a righteousness which he or she does not naturally possess and which will makes us right with God as well as right with our fellowman.

The means of conveyance for this righteousness is only found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ which Paul sets forth throughout the book of Romans. The very fact that that there is a Gospel and its presence is itself the evidence of its needs for fallen humanity.

There is no purpose for it if there is no need for it!

Therefore if the Gospel has a divine origin, it is because it has a human need. If God has revealed His righteousness, which He has, it is because man has displayed his unrighteousness.

If God has sent His Son, it is because the world has shown its sin and is in need of rescue. Man’s need of salvation is shown by the simple fact that there is a Saviour!

Man’s sin is the measure of God’s salvation. They are both universal but while the measure of salvation is universal, – “Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” – the manner of salvation is individual – “Jhn 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

No, God’s Word never ages nor does it require ‘updating’ as the heart of the matter is still the problem of the heart.

I pray that you are reading God’s Word each day, for only by doing this are you being delivered both the truth of our need for salvation and that this can only be found in repentance before God, seeking His forgiveness because of what Jesus has done for each of us on the Cross at Calvary.

May I commend to you also that our lives need to be simplified greatly in how we live and exist. We are all made in the image of God and only by knowing Him and serving Him  will you come to the potential of all that God has intended for you to be.

“ Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
