Is your walk with God like a yoyo?

Is your walk with God like a yoyo?
In the Book of Judges, the children of Israel’s relationship with God is literally like a yoyo on a piece of string.
People turn away from God and begin to live their lives how they think instead of how God has commanded. The people fall into depravity and idolatry, their enemies attack them, their crops fail or are pillaged, the children of Israel repent and call out to God for help, He raises up a judge, deliverance from oppression occurs, prosperity returns…and the cycle repeats itself.
Sadly, many Christians today live a very similar lifestyle. On fire for God, then drift away from God, backslide, things fall apart, they repent and cry out to God, they get serious with their walk with God again…..and the cycle repeats itself.
The very term “walk with God” carries with it the type of relationship we should all have with Him. Its one of being continually in His presence, in fellowship with His body the church, and keeping close to Him everyday.
Examine your “walk with God”, does it imitate that of the children of Israel in the Book of Judges, or is it like that of the disciples who spent every moment of their day following Jesus and keeping in His presence?
The Bible tells us (Rom 10:17) So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
When we live apart from God and begin to do our own thing, our ears become dull and our faith grows weaker and weaker.
Starting today, stay close to the Lord, walk with Him, and let your faith begin to get stronger and stronger as you stay tuned to His voice and His Word.
Instead of your life hanging by a string and going up and down, place your hand in the hand of God and He will keep you steady and safe!
