Prayer for our Nation!
Once the service has commenced, especially during the teaching of God’s Word, we ask that you remain seated so not to be a distraction to others. Should you need to move the Ushers on your return will direct you to a seat at the rear of the sanctuary.
What’s on this week
This morning we complete our journey through the book of Revelation. Next Sunday we begin a brand-new series in the book of Daniel — “How to Live Godly in Babylon!”
Starting this Wednesday evening, we also launch a new teaching series on the Parables of Jesus. There’s plenty of homework reading now for you to dig into!
With the school holiday period commencing, Calvary Women’s Bible Study, Calvary Kids, and Calvary Youth will be on break.
Calvary Men — if you missed last Friday night’s men’s meeting, please see Pastor Israel to receive a link to all the information that was covered. It is very important that you catch up on what was shared.
Here at CCSH, our heart is that everyone would be serving the body of Christ in some way. If you have not yet filled out a Connection Card to join the servant team, they are available at the information desk.
Finally, CCSH will be hosting a wedding this Thursday afternoon. To prepare the sanctuary, we will be re-arranging the seating and setting up the chapel straight after prayer and Bible study on Wednesday night.
Grace Giving
2Co 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. We encourage all of you who are part of our Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour Fellowship family to give without obligation but with a cheerful heart of worship. Your gifts allow God’s work to be done in “Judea, Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world.” Account name – Calvary Chapel Church Secret Harbour Incorporated – Account – 10891970 – BSB – 066-516.
From the Pastor’s Pen
One in three Australian children — some as young as 10 — have been exposed to pornographic material online, new research shows. The eSafety Commission’s Keeping Kids Safe Online survey of over 3,400 Australian children aged 10 to 17 found that 32% had seen sexual images or videos online. Of these, 23% had been exposed to sexually explicit content within the past year, and 12% had even encountered violent sexual content.
This is the world our children are growing up in. A world that mocks God’s design of male and female, dismisses the beauty of marriage as He created it, and replaces innocence with immorality and confusion. We have torn down boundaries meant for blessing, and in their place we’ve opened a Pandora’s box of corruption.
Righteousness and godliness are now mocked as intolerant, outdated, even offensive. The very word sin is rejected as hateful — while our children are drowning in the very sins the world refuses to name.
Church, where do we stand? Are we bowing to cultural pressure and compromise, or do we still stand on the unshakable truth of God’s Word? What are we teaching in our pulpits, in our homes, and in our daily lives?
Next Sunday, as we begin our study in the book of Daniel, we will see a teenage boy taken from his homeland, pressured to conform to the values of a pagan empire. And yet Daniel stood firm. He would not defile himself. He chose God’s truth over the king’s table. And by doing so, he overcame the might of an empire.
If Daniel could stand in Babylon, then by God’s Spirit, so can we.
Quote of the Week
“The thing I love about prayer is….it goes where
people can’t.” – J.C. Ryle
Helen’s heart
This thing is from Me – 1 Kings 12:24 When temptation and when the enemy comes in like a flood, God allows this that our weakness sees God’s might. When difficult circumstances arise, God uses it to see His power at work. Have you money difficulties, struggling to make ends meet? God wants you to depend on Him whose supplies are limitless – (Phil 4:19). Are you travelling through sorrow? ‘The Man of Sorrows and acquainted with grief’ will comfort you and encourage you and make you strong – 2 Thess 2:16. Do you long to do a great work for God but instead have been laid up in a bed of pain and weakness? It is there for you to wield the weapon of prayer. Every circumstance, every interuption, every weakness is anointed with this learning that we see His loving hand in all things. Next womens Tuesday Bible study will be – 21st October, now with the school holiday period break.
