Our Amazing Saviour
Our Amazing Saviour
Through our study in the Gospel of John and especially now we are in the passages that deal with our Lord’s brutal treatment, His whipping and this Sunday His crucifixion, it is as though we have been taken back in time to these very events.
Such has been the reality of the Word that the Holy Spirit has breathed through these verses to us that it is as though I could even hear our Lord’s groans and be awash with the atmosphere of this most amazing moment in time.
Since Calvary Chapel Secret Harbour has begun its tours of Israel and I have been to Golgotha (Calvary) the place of Christ’s crucifixion, sat in the Garden of Gethsemane and stood in the Garden Tomb, never have these verses been so real and descriptive.
But now on reflection, yes being Israel certainly has increased my knowledge and detail of these events. But it is much more than that, which is moving through the deepest inner most being of my soul.
It is the Holy Spirit who is allowing me to move deeper into the Holy of Holies in this blessed book we call the Bible, God’s Word.
The Holy Spirit’s invitation into a greater knowledge and understanding of the Bible is available to everyone who names the Name of Jesus. The Bible is not ‘just another religious book’, it is indeed the very Word of God.
2 Tim 3:16 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
I encourage you to not read the Bible like it’s another book. But before you read it, pray and ask God to open it to you, ask Him to give you a greater understanding of it and to help you know it in your heart.
Paul’s prayer often, for the many churches and new believers in them, was this, Ephesians 1: 15 Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, 16 do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers: 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
My prayer for you is that as you now begin to read His precious Word that it will be like you too have been transported back to that very time.
May your knowledge and understanding of all that God has done for you, fill your heart with a love for Jesus Christ, like never before!
ps…start praying and saving for our next tour to the land where God walked as a man – Israel!
