Daily devotion – “Safe am I in the hollow of His hand…”

Pastor Keith   -

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Our security in Christ, in salvation, is based on the grace of God and the fact that eternal life is a gift and it is eternal.

When a person believes in Jesus Christ, he or she is brought into a relationship with the Godhead that assures his or her salvation is secure!

Most would agree therefore, that God’s power is able to keep the believer (and it is, – Jude 1:24 Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,) but some would argue that it can be thwarted by a person renouncing his or her faith.

But the Lord said that we are secure in His hand and the Father’s hand, and that no one can seize the believer from the safe position – John 10: 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.

Now “no one” means no one, including the individual, his or herself. The promise does not say that no one, except yourself, can seize the believer out of God’s hand. It says no one! End of the story!

As that old hymn says,

“Safe Am I, Safe Am I,
In The Hollow Of His Hand.
Sheltered Over, Sheltered Over
With His Love Forever More.

No Ill Can Harm Me, No Foe Alarm Me;
For He Keeps Both Day And Night.
Safe Am I, Safe Am I
In The Hollow Of His Hand.”
