When you don’t know what to say….
When you don’t know what to say….
So often we will find ourselves in situations where we don’t have the answer, where we are searching for the right words to say, but we come up empty.
We all will face difficult situations where we don’t know how to respond to a question or we have been asked to give advice to someone on a matter that is beyond our comprehension to give a worthy response.
As Christians, we now realize that the way of wisdom is an ever dependence on God and His will for our lives. We have made too many mistakes in our own lives when we once trusted in our own intellect prior to receiving Jesus as our Lord and Saviour to repeat that same mistake again.
Now we have the amazing blessing of turning to God’s Word for His wisdom and His answers to life’s problems.
The other blessing is that now when we are asked for advice on a serious matter we can point the enquirer to the Scriptures as well, to the passage that deals with their particular situation, giving them an inspired compass for decision making.
Lastly, as we increase in our knowledge of God’s Word by spending time in it, God by His Holy Spirit will bring a Scripture to our memory, the right words to say that we can share with someone in need of wisdom and help.
My first memory verse was a passage that provided great confidence for me over the years in trusting God’s Word for decision making and giving an answer to people looking for direction – Isaiah 55:10-11 10 “For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, And do not return there, But water the earth, And make it bring forth and bud, That it may give seed to the sower And bread to the eater,
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
The next time someone asks you for advice, don’t give them your opinion, instead give them a verse, a passage of God’s inspired Word and it will do the rest!
It will not fail!
