Daily devotion – Courage in the home.
“Wives, submit to your own husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives and do not be bitter toward them. Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord.” — Colossians 3:18-20
Home is where our faith is most visible. The way we treat our spouse and children reveals the depth of our walk with God. Paul’s words remind us that courage in the home means living out God’s design: wives showing respectful support, husbands loving sacrificially, and children obeying with a willing heart.
These roles are not about superiority or control, but about reflecting Christ’s love and order. Submission and love are daily choices, empowered by God’s Spirit, and they bring peace and unity to the family.
This week will you have the courage to follow God’s structure for your home, even when it goes against the world’s ways?
Let Christ be the ever-present guest in your family, guiding your prayers, your words, and your actions. Encourage one another, spend time together, and let your home be a place of refuge, love, and spiritual growth.
If a stranger or a visitor was to come to your house what visual signs would also tell of your faith in Christ? This Christmas, work to make your home a place where Christ is seen and heard. Where His presence is made known before each meal, each time you or your children retire to sleep, and in the morning, let Christ’s name be spoken of in thankfulness and praise.
Let Him be made known in your home.
Lord Jesus, fill our home with Your presence. Help us to love, submit, and obey as You have taught us. May our family reflect Your grace and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
