The cares of this world….

The cares of this world….
The joy of new believers cannot be contained. Every church needs a constant stream of people coming to know Christ as their Saviour and Lord for the first time in their midst.
They bring freshness and zeal to the rest of the body of Christ and inject the true celebration of being a sinner saved by God’s grace without restraint.
But many Christians today are no longer joyful nor celebrating their blessed salvation. Just as Jesus said in the parable of the sower and the seed, the cares of the world have choked their walk with God – Mar 4:19
“and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
Instead of speaking of their victories, the riches of knowing Christ, most of their discussion is centred around the very cares of ‘their’ world. There seems to be no light emitting from any of the words that are rolling off their lips and thus they reveal a crowded heart.
Jesus gave us the answer as to how to declutter our hearts from the affairs of this world. It’s really a very simple answer. But it requires a very serious and costly action!
Jesus said, Mat 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
The biggest care we need to deal with first of all is our very own selfishness. We forget that in our life prior to receiving Christ as our Lord and Saviour, it was this very selfishness that made us most miserable!
Through neglect of being in the Word of God and a prayerless life, we soon slip back into our old narcissistic ways and the mirror becomes our main focus. We begin living our lives purely for ourselves and our own selfish desires.
Today, will bow your heart before God again and repent of your selfishness and ask God to forgive you and forget about the ‘mirror’ in your life? God will open your eyes again if you do and you will see people around you whom God desires you to share His love with. People who are truly lost and lonely.
Joy will re-enter your heart, and the love of God once choked by the cares of this world, will be set free once more through you.
As a result blessing will be yours too!
