Daily devotion – How loving and caring is our Heavenly Father!
Each time I read Genesis chapter 1, I am struck anew by the power and wonder of God—not only displayed in creation, but by the infinite intelligence of God revealed through it.
Everything God spoke into existence was intentional. Nothing was random. Each part of creation had purpose and an intrinsic connection to how our world was designed to function.
Genesis 1:14–19
Then God said, “Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth”; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also… And God saw that it was good.
We often take for granted the sun that rules the day—the light that allows us to see, to work, and even to receive health and vitality. The earth’s distance from the sun plays a critical role in sustaining life, particularly in maintaining a stable water cycle.
If the earth were only a few percent farther from the sun, it would be too cold for that cycle to exist, and the planet would freeze over. If it were just a few percent closer, the waters of the earth would boil away. In either case, life would be impossible. Such precision speaks loudly of divine design.
And then there are these beautiful summer nights—when the stars are out and the moon shines brightly. In those moments, I’m reminded again of how wonderfully our Creator cares for us. The sun has set, yet the moon remains, as though God Himself has placed a perfect night light in the sky. Just enough illumination to guide our steps and keep us from stumbling, yet gentle enough to allow our bodies to rest, without the need to shut out the light.
Truly, He is our Heavenly Father—wise, powerful, and always thinking the very best for His children.
