Daily devotion – Israel is now the focus that will not shift!
2 Thessalonians 2:5–10
“Do you not remember that when I was still with you I told you these things? And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time…”
Paul reminds the Thessalonian believers that lawlessness is not a future concept alone—it is already at work. Yet it is restrained. God, in His sovereign timing, holds back the full unveiling of evil until His purposes are complete. Nothing is spiralling out of control; everything is moving according to God’s redemptive plan.
Since the Bondi murders, there has been no softening—only an escalation—of hatred toward the people of Israel. With the recent visit of Israeli President Isaac Herzog to Sydney to meet with grieving families and to lay a wreath, violent street protests have once again erupted across our nation.
The chants of “from the river to the sea” and open calls for a global jihad were screamed in our streets, particularly in Sydney. As disturbing and sickening as it was to witness such venom, it should not surprise us. Scripture has already prepared us for this reality.
The Bible reveals that this hatred is not merely political or social—it is spiritual. It is fuelled by Satan himself. As we draw closer to the Rapture of the Church and the commencement of the seven-year Tribulation, the mystery of lawlessness will intensify. Deception will grow. Hatred will deepen. And the world will increasingly harden itself against the truth.
At the same time, these events serve as a sobering confirmation that Bible prophecy is accurate. God’s Word is not vague speculation—it is precise revelation. What we are witnessing is exactly what Scripture said would unfold.
Protests will continue. Jewish hatred will increase. And the world will eventually welcome a global leader who will unite the nations and lead the greatest assembled army in history against Israel—culminating at Armageddon.
In light of this, the Church of Jesus Christ must shake off spiritual slumber. We must be awake, alert, and active. This is not the hour for silence or compromise. While we still have breath, we must proclaim the truth of God’s Word and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Let us continue to pray for Israel and for God’s chosen people. They still have much yet to endure, but they remain the apple of God’s eye. The Lord will stand with them, soon as a nation will fall to their knees and worship Jesus Christ as their Messiah.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
